  1. The Characteristics of an Authentic Follower of Christ

          A. Following Christ is characterized by a devotion to Him which is greater than one’s devotion to significant others (14:26a).

         B. Following Christ is characterized by a devotion to Him which is greater than one’s devotion to self (14:26b-27).

         C. Following Christ is characterized by a devotion to Him which is greater than one’s devotion to stuff (14:33).
  2. The Cost of being an Authentic Follower of Christ (14:28-32)

         What’s the point of these two parables?

         A. They point out the cost of following Christ.

         B. They point out the cost of neglecting Christ.
  3. The Consideration of an Authentic Follower of Christ (14:34-35)

         The Point: If we are not devoted followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, then we are of no spiritual use. Our spiritual lives have been a waste.

         B. Will I devote my life to spiritually counting for nothing?
