Dr. Bill Cook
- On one side of this passage is the command to “be filled with the Spirit,” and on the other is the reality of cosmic conflict.
- If you are a husband, God commands you to love your wife as he loves the church. Your wife is God’s gift to you.
- If you are a wife, God commands you to submit to your husband’s leadership in the home and honor him as you submit to and honor Jesus. Your husband is God’s gift to you.
- What do you do with this passage if you are single? You do exactly what Jesus and Paul did.
- Don’t overlook that this passage is primarily about Christ Jesus’ deep and abiding love for the church—the people, not the building.
