- When God convicts you of sin remember God’s mercy: A Desperate Cry (51:1-2)
A. David knows his behavior has been sinful
B. David “feels” the contamination of his sin.
C. David asks for God’s gracious mercy based on God’s character.
2. Be Straightforward in your confession without making excuses for you sinful behavior (51:3-6)
A. First and foremost our sin is against the Lord (51:3-4).
B. We sin because we are born with a sinful nature (51:5-6)
3. Ask God for cleansing and renewal (51:7-12)
A. In connection with David’s confession he prays to God for forgiveness (vv. 7-9) and inner renewal (vv. 10-12).
4. Make a fresh Commitment to serving God (51:13-17)
